Postcards from Ithaca, New York

One thing I’ve realized, when it comes to my blog, is that I get hung up on capturing the ‘perfect photo.’ While I started this platform as a way to get my writing out there, I’ve quickly realized that the visual aspect is just as important to people. Now, that’s all well and good, but sometimes I think it’s important to simplify things and capture memories without worrying about the ascetic effect. That being said,…

Purity Ice Cream

Purity Ice Cream is a landmark in Ithaca, New York. With creative flavors like Bulldog Crunch, Finger Lake Tourist, Chocolate Covered Strawberry, and Green Tea, there’s an ice cream to satisfy everyone! It’s a little shop but they’ve recently expanded to include an indoor seating area in the back and whenever we stop by the place is packed! In my mind, there’s always been a strong connection between summertime and ice cream; stopping after a…

Ithaca Farmer’s Market

One place that’s always on our trip itinerary when we visit Ithaca is the weekend farmer’s market. Every Saturday and Sunday in the summer, on the bank of Cayuga Lake, venders stretch up and down the isles of the old barn with incredible food, beautiful flowers, fresh produce, and neat trinkets to sell. There is live music wherever you turn, children running around and plenty of people watching to do. Farmer’s Markets are so important,…

Moosewood Restaurant

Moosewood has got to be one of the best restaurants I’ve ever eaten at. For as far back as I can remember, half the cookbook collection in my family’s kitchen has been made up of titles from their repertoire. Their dedication to delicious, authentic, healthy food is incredible, as many meals falls into the categories vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free. They have a set menu dependent on season. My father, sister, and I ordered a few of these…

The brick center is lined with stores on either sides, where you can buy anything from clothing to organic soap to hand-made jewelry. An artistic area like this is bustling and busy once the weather warms. There are plenty of benches and tables spread around, and even a little playground for children to…

Watkins Glen

There’s a running joke in my family that whenever we go on a trip, it’s required that we go hiking, especially when we’re visiting my grandparents in Ithaca, New York. Ithaca is a small town with some of the most beautiful wooded trails, gorge trails, and outdoor environments imaginable. Watkins Glen is definitely one of my favorites. We’ve been hiking this gorge since I was little, struggling up the hundreds of steps and worrying that we’d…
