52 Books in 52 Weeks Review

One of my goals in 2020 was to read more, so I made it a goal to read one book a week. I was doing really well, until school started in September. Then I found myself playing a bit of catch-up here and there. That being said, I ended the year with 52 books logged and reviewed. Today, I’m sharing my top 5.

5. The Energy Bus

I loved “The Energy Bus” for its messages, its direction, and the creative way of storytelling it uses. I love reading non-fiction texts but they don’t always grab me. However, this story did. I will post the rules of the energy bus on my wall for years to come.

4. Hillbilly Elegy

This book is such a game changer and one I truly believe everyone should read. If you feel like you know very little about the middle of our country, or any of our country other than your own region, please read this book. JC’s perspective is honest, heartbreaking, humorous, and sincere. His memoir will open your eyes and make you feel. I just love this book- hands down.

3. The Guest List

If I was going to write a mystery novel, I would want to write a mystery novel like Lucy Foley. The twists, the turns, the crazy endings and never-saw-that-comings keep you on the edge of your seat until the end. Throw in beautiful text and full, intriguing characters and you’ve got a great story.

2. Just Mercy

I was very unaware of the injustice taking place in our justice system. “Just Mercy” is one of those books that opens up your eyes, real wide. The factual accounts recorded and statistics provided and heartbreaking and anger inducing and after reading this story you’ll yearn for change. Better yet, you’ll want to take action for change.

1. Girl, Wash Your Face

This is the book that started it all- number one on this list and number one for my 52 books in 52 weeks. Truthfully, it isn’t number one on this list because it’s the best book I read. Instead, it’s number one because it introduced me to Rachel Hollis who has become someone I really enjoy to follow and look to in the social media/self-help sphere. I think she’s a genius and genuine and I want to be her one day. That is all. Read her book. Get inspired.

I want you to comment below your best book of 2020. Do you have a reading stack lined up for this year? I won’t be doing #52for52 again, however, it’s my hope I will read more.
