Caitlin’s Confections: Chewy Molasses Gingersnaps

These gingersnaps come handed down from a family friend to my mom to me. I swear, they taste too good to be true. The ultimate holiday staple- flavorful, chewy, sweet, and just crisp enough. Plus, the dough is honestly effortless to make. If you need a quick treat to gift or an extra addition to a dessert table, this recipe is for you! I hope you love it as much as we do.

Ingredients

3/4 c butter

1 c sugar

1 egg

4 tbsp molasses

2 c flour

3 tsp baking soda

1 tsp ginger

1/2 tsp cinnamon

1/4 tsp cloves

Recipe

  1. Combine your wet ingredients in a stand mixer, whipping the butter and sugar first. Add the egg and molasses and combine until smooth.
  2. Combine flour, baking soda, and spices before adding them to your mixer. Mix just until combined.
  3. When scooped and rolled, your dough should form balls about the size of walnuts. Roll these balls in sugar and set on a cookie sheet.
  4. Bake at 350 degrees for 12 minutes. Allow a few minutes to set before enjoying warm or storing for longer enjoyment.
