Sharing My JOY List

Rachel Hollis recently published a challenge on her blog: make a JOY list! Her advice was to sit down and make a list of things that bring you joy and contentment. I published a post back in January about how I want this to be my year of JOY, so this activity feels very appropriate. One way to psych yourself out of the winter blues? Remember all the great things that bring you JOY.

Here are my top 10 things that bring me JOY:

One. Crawling into a bed made up with freshly cleaned sheets

Two. Taking Savasana after a particularly hard workout class.

Three. Dancing it out to a really good song.

Four. Listening to fresh snow crunch under my feet on a long winter walk.

Five. Quiet mornings relaxing in the kitchen while enjoying a cup of coffee.

Six. Washing all my makeup off and changing into comfortable clothing.

Seven. Drinking a glass of really good red wine.

Eight. Telling a joke that really hits home and gets someone laughing.

Nine. Catching up with an old friend after a long time.

Ten. Getting lost in a really good book and losing track of time.

Now, obviously this list could go on and on for pages and pages, but I think you get my gist. For me, it really does come down to the little things that make such a big difference in my life and those little things are the easiest to forget about. When the days are long and hard and you’re rushing through, you forget. Writing things down helps you remember.

That being said, I’ll pass on the challenge. Write your own JOY list. Trust me, you’ll feel great afterwards.
